TFA Cosplay

In my quest to make high quality pics, I’ve discovered a new tool…Topaz Labs.  These are Photoshop plugins that are nearly black magic when it comes to eliminating noise, artifacts, and sharpening edges…among other things I’ve found.  Anything that can use a photoshop plugin can use these…so I’m running them off of Irfanview in WINE on Kubuntu.  I swear it runs better that way than on a normal Windows box.

With that in mind, check out the first 100 or so Mayhem’s Pics from Anime Expo 2009!  I’ve been using them as a test case, and I’m rather impressed with the tool overall.  I’ll complete his pics this year in this tool as a good showcase for what could be done.  Though given the amount of time it takes, this will likely be the LAST time I do this en masse, heh.

I’ve come to the conclusion I need to figure out how to get proper colors on this camcorder when those at Anime Central use those weird ass colored lights. On the other hand, it’d also be nice if I had decent software that was capable of correcting some of that in the AVCHD format.

Regardless, here’s the Anime Central 2009 Fashion Show Torrent as hosted by Nyaa Torrents.

It was actually shorter than the Lolita Fashion Show of last year, but far more varied; including many of the various pop fashions seen in Japan, which included several fashions worn by men which was a pleasant surprise.

Check it out, you may find something you like in it.

Well, Anime Expo was both awesome and terrible this year, which is pretty typical of the convention to be honest. More on that later. In the mean time, why not check out the Momoi concert from Fanime 2009?

Yeah, you’re seeing that right. They were actually allowing recording of the event, which is great! Only problem is, there were no tripods allowed due to union rules (as they were running the event cameras). In the end, it didn’t really matter considering well…let’s just say we had to shoot this by hand over a few thousand screaming fans. Considering my height this was quite challenging, even with Mayhem along to alternate songs. Still, this is a rather cool recording if I do say so myself.

Well, Fanime will be occurring this weekend over at the San Jose convention center up in northern California.  Like the past few years, I’ll be attending, and this year for the second time as Press.  If you see a guy dressed in a black monk outfit or a short guy with a Decepticon T-shirt pursuing a cute cosplayer portraying some obscure character then it’s likely me.  Come up and say hi if you see me!
